| What's Powdered Green Tea? |
|
We call it "Matcha".
If we check "Matcha" by Japanese-English dictionary,
it's translated "Powdered Green Tea". But we never drink(?) powder
itself.
Black Tea leaves are fermented Green Tea leaves, and
how to extract them is almost same. It's said that Green Tea is good for
prevention against respiratory infection. Doctors recommend to drink Green
Tea especially in winter season.
In the meantime, "Matcha" is Powdered (ground)
Green Tea (leaves) mixed with boiled water using special mixer "Chasen".
Cups for Matcha are special shaped and used only for Matcha (not used for
Green Tea, Black Tea or Coffee). Matcha is typical Japanese taste, please
try and enjoy it at Cafe Nagomian. |

| What's Yusanbako? |
|
It's kid's lunch box in Tokushima prefecture.
Over 40 years ago, there was no TV games or personal
computers. Children were playing in the mountain, river or sea. There are
many mountains in Tokushima prefecture, and children were playing in those
mountains with friends. Their parents have prepared packed lunch for children,
and lunch was packed in Yusanbako box. About YU-SAN-BAKO, YU means Play,
SAN means Mountain and BAKO means Box in Japanese. So, Yusanbako is like
"Lunch Box for Children Playing in the Mountain". There are three
drawers in the box. What were there in each drawers? Please find the answer
at Cafe Nagomian.
You can see original old Yusanbako(s) in the shop (not
for sale) , and Yusanbako served at Cafe Nagomian is bigger than the original
size for kids. |
